| The Danish V12 punk engine is known
to always deliver on stage where the energy
is kept 110% and mixed with loads of humor
and self-irony. That leads with it unexpected
humor-, tempo-, and genre crossovers that's
going to appeal to even the dullest concertgoers.
Gob Squad is simply a highly explosive
cocktail with ingredients covering a great
deal from the bar menu.
Gob Squad was formed back in 1996 by
2 youngsters (Thomas & Sogge) in love
with the energetic and melodic songs of
Green Day and Rancid. At highschool 2
music fanatics (Stauning & Flemming)
joined and the quartet was born. A coupple
of promo cd’s was recorded and some
songs ended on various international compilations.
In late 1999 Flemming quit the band and
Mads, aka. Battle King, took over.
In 2001 another promo was released and
Gob Squad played at the famous Roskilde
Festival and got 5 outta 6 stars in the
official review. Later that year the combo
headed for Germany to support American
skapunkers Big D and the kids table on
their Europetour.
During 2002 the former ska-punk band
started writing more rock n roll inspired
songs and worked harder and harder to
become the most playing underground act
in Denmark.
In early 2003 Gob Squad headed for the
Antfarm Studio in Denmark to work with
producer Tue Madsen. The plan was to record
a killer album and use it to convince
labels to sign the guys.
A promo-cd was released containing 5 tracks
for the session. The rest of the songs
was played live doing heavy touring activity
throughout 2003, including a 3 week summertour
with the friends in Toybomb.
The hard work, the growing number of
shows, the good reviews, the awesome melodic
songs, the professional acting on stage
and the growing attention have payed off.
Gob Squad have signed with Eye Spy Records
& German Horror Business Records.
The debut full-length will be released
in april/may 2004.
The release will be supported by an increased
touring activity in Denmark, Norway, Sweden,
Germany, Holland & Belgium for the
rest of 2004.
