.Everything started out with a crappy party called 'Hypnotic Dance' in early '96. Me and some other kids organised this, the most fucked-up event of the year. Most people were drunk before the party started, the rain leaked through the roof of the venue and the DJ packed his gear and left us after 10 minutes. Man, the organisation was really shitty, and everybody laughed at us.
But we felt that we had to take some sort of revenge! At the end of '96 and in '97 we set up two hardcore/punkrock shows called 'Tearing Your Insides Out'. We easily crammed the venue with 500 persons and plans were drawn up to continue doing this on a regular basis with the same team. After the second show, a collegue who didn't do a thing for the team took all the money and we have never seen him ever again.
However, after taking a little break I decided to continue. The lay-outer came up with a new name for the crew... 'Eye Spy' (the name was taken from a flying robot out of a comic book). Unfortunately, the scene started to change - less people visited shows and the attitude of the kids just wasn't the same anymore. On our first 'Eye Spy' show, some one stole 10,000 Belgian francs.
In 2000 Piek joined the ranks and that same year xDeckerx became a steady member of Team Eye Spy. In 2001 we started the record label - things were going well,... a little too well: it all became too much for Piek. He decided to quit to pursue other interests, so again we started searching for a new team member.
After a while we found the right man: Boston. Also, Yves Hellemans started to take care of Eye Spy layout jobs on a freelance basis. In the near future we'll start looking for new kids that can help us grow, 'cause after all... world domination is still the objective!
Take care - Pieter De Wulf (July 2002)
